Let’s review all we did in October at The Sketch Club. A very long post ahead; please bear with me. First and foremost would be the official launch of our Substack in the first week!!
We had our fantastic Street Food Vendor Drawing Session on Friday 13th, October. Yes, Friday the 13th. When I realised the significance of this date, it was already too late to search for fun and spooky street food vendors!! If you want to explore that, Emma Carpendale did an excellent Witchcraft and Magic Drawing Session. We, though, stuck with your everyday street food guy for this one. Check out the replay if you haven’t already.
After that, the amazing artists on Instagram dropped the prompts for this year’s FolkTale Week 2023. The prompts are all so good, that I could not resist trying them out.
I heard about Folktale Week last year, but a little too late, and I wasn’t confident enough to attempt it. But this year, I was determined. I started by writing my own story for the prompts. Although quite interesting, the story was too complicated to cover in seven drawings. So I created another story and then another and yet another…..
After five attempts, I had a story that made me happy, and then began the thumb-nailing!!! For thumbnails, we need to be able to develop some characters. And for that, we had the Character Development Drawing Session on October 30th. I also attended the Creating Characters for a Picture Book by
andBut now, with just 3 thumbnails finalised and the festival of Diwali right around the corner, Both my kids will have online school for the next fifteen days at least. For those who know, I live in Delhi, India. And the weather patterns here are such in November, that we get bombarded with extreme pollution levels, hence the online schooling.
Consequently, I am taking a break from sessions this November. I will post, when possible, and update you all with my folktale progress, and any other fun projects I work on. Here is a sneak peek of a few fun things I did in the last couple of weeks, I will try to make detailed posts on these if you want.
I leave you here with the wish, may the festival of lights bring some peace in the world filled with senseless greed and arrogance, may humanity rise above all the darkness and evil.
